9th Annual Mariana Canoe Race

MARIANNA, PA – The 2015 Marianna Canoe Race endured brisk temperatures, but was once again a huge success! Nearly 200 boats made their way down Ten Mile Creek along the 3.2-mile voyage to the Finish Line where approximately 3,000 attendees enjoyed a barbeque and concert.

The Marianna Outdoorsmen Association hosted the ninth annual event with the help of the Fredericktown United Beth-Center Youth Baseball, Methodist Church, Izaak Walton League of America, Marianna Lyceum, and Marianna Volunteer Firehall.

Citizens came from near and far, with some coming from as far as Texas, to enjoy the event that has put Marianna back on the map. “We would like to thank everybody who came out to support the M.O.A. and this year’s race,” said M.O.A. President Jason White. “Special thanks to the Nichol, Pryor, and Wyel’s families for allowing the use of land for the Annual Event loved by so many. The event grows every year and plans are already in the works for our 10th Annual race in 2016.”

The funds raised will help improve and promote an eight-mile water trail from Marianna to Fredericktown The Marianna Outdoorsmen Association also stocks over 3,300 trout annually in Ten Mile Creek throughout Marianna that is open to the public.

The Marianna Outdoorsmen Association is dedicated to preserving and promoting the great outdoors and rich heritage of Southwestern Pennsylvania. The M.O.A. is also committed to educating our youth, helping those in need whether disabled or struck by disaster, and strives to acknowledge and involve our veterans who served to protect us.

9th Annual Mariana Canoe Race

A great family friendly event presented by The Marianna Outdoorsmen Association

Volunteers from California University of PA and Chevron join community volunteers for the Annual M.O.A. Stream Clean-Up Event in Marianna, PA.

MARIANNA, PA – The Marianna Outdoorsman Association (M.O.A.) held its pre-Annual Canoe Race Stream Clean-Up event on Saturday, April 4th. The Marianna Outdoorsmen Association, CalU, Chevron, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Western PA Wounded Warriors, and citizens from Marianna Borough, West Beth Township, and West Pike Run participated in the Ten Mile Creek Clean-Up. The Clean-Up took place in Marianna, PA starting at the Ten Mile Access #1 “Annual Marianna Canoe Race Starting Line” and ended approximately one mile downstream with participants collecting over 150 bags of garbage. Over 30 tires were also pulled from Ten Mile Creek along with other large debris that included five televisions. Flowers and trees were planted at the Ten Mile Access #1 during the Clean-Up. M.O.A. President Jason White stated, “The Clean-Up was a huge success and the group effort shows a TEAM that is united as one can truly achieve anything!”

Members of the non-profit organization has cleaned the stream of garbage each year prior to the M.O.A. Annual Canoe Race, which will take place this year on Saturday, April 25th at 11:00 AM. The Marianna Outdoorsmen Association thanks all of the volunteers for supporting its vision to promote and preserve the great outdoors and rich heritage of Pennsylvania.
